Blooming Flowers in Georgia
Cherry blossoms are pink flowering trees that originated in Asian countries like Japan and China. Its Japanese name Sakura, is also called as Yoshino cherries. They are also widely situated among other Asian countries such as India, Korea and Philippines. These pink flowering trees are often featured as a symbolic icon on movies, songs and literary art that symbolizes love, friendship and beauty. Cherry blossoms can also be found on other countries such as United States of America, Germany, United Kingdom and Canada.
Cherry blossoms or Sakura are located at Sakura Park in Manhattan, USA. History tells that these pink flowering trees are a gift presented to the United States by Japan on 1912 as a symbol of the two countrys friendship. A total of 3,012 Yoshino cherry trees are given by Japan that is still well situated in this park. Philippine cherry blossoms can be found at Palawan Islands.
The Cherry Blossom Festival in Macon, Georgia is an annual event usually held in March where spring time leads to the full blooming of these pretty and gorgeous pink flowering trees. Macon, Georgia has over 3000, 000 cherry blossom trees which also has its known unique history to tell. The festival gathers locals and visitors from all over the country to commemorate the cherry blossom trees that are in wide population in this part of the state.
A horticulturist named William Fickling Sr. once discovered a charming pink flowering tree in his own backyard on 1949. While visiting from Washington, D.C. he happens to stumble upon the same tree and visions to beautify his neighborhood by planting more of it through the help of his neighbors. The vision materialized and soon enough every one in his community is planting the beautiful tree in each and everyones backyards.
A certain Carolyn Crayton discovered the beauty of these pink flowering trees and expressed her desire to Fickling to plant the same trees in her town. The beautification of Macon soon began to spread through the pioneer team of Fickling and Crayton. The 300,000 trees that are being celebrated during the Cherry Blossom Festival in Georgia indeed have a great history to tell.
