When it comes to lighting a marquee you will find that you have several different kinds of lighting that you can choose from, much more than you would find at other venues. What many people do not actually realize that installing marquee lighting is much simpler than they would have first thought.

The type of lighting used in a marquee can affect the way it looks and also feels. However, there are certain things you need to take into consideration in relation to marquee lighting. First off make sure that all the lighting being used by the marquee hire company is regularly checked and tested, this way you won’t have to worry about anything failing. Also make sure that they have all the equipment insured and that they provide a backup system in case the main system does fail.

Once the company has been found that is suitable for installing your marquee lighting you now need to decide just what kind of lighting it is you want in your marquee. In fact you may find that you need to have a couple different types installed and below we now take a look at what some of these are.

Fairy or Rope Lights – These are ideal for hanging around the inside of the marquee and will create a much more romantic and warm feel to the area. This is the kind of lighting that is most often used to provide illumination to marquees where a wedding reception or anniversary party is taking place.

Also with this type of lighting it could be strung across the inside of the marquees roof and so create a night time sky affect. In most cases this type of lighting will be used over areas of the marquee where a dance floor has been situated again helping to create a more romantic feel to the area.

Uplighters – This kind of marquee lighting is helpful to further create a warm feel inside the tent and also to help disguise areas of the marquee that may be unsightly. But also you can actually use this type of lighting by inserting coloured bulbs into them to help accentuate areas of the marquee as well.

Chandeliers – It is this type of marquee lighting that can really create a dramatic statement to the decor. If you do use such lighting then situate it over those areas where most lighting is needed say for example where the guests of honour (bride and groom) are to be sat.

Lanterns or Floodlights – This the type of lighting you use to help your guests make their way to the marquee and enter it. If you are intending to use such lighting then make sure that the plugs and sockets are well protected to prevent any type of moisture gaining access to them.

When it comes to getting marquee lighting installed it is important that you use the services of a qualified electrician. Certainly any reputable marquee hire companies will employ their own to install the lighting you have chosen for your event in the marquee.
