How To Make Hydroponic Systems
Many gardeners are beginning to switch to Hydroponics gardening for many different reasons. These types of gardens are small and can easily be grown inside and are perfect for most vegetables, especially the red tomato. Also the equipment required for Hydroponics gardening is not expensive and they are relatively easy to manage.
Hydroponics gardening is the growing of plants without soil, in other words, “dirtless gardening”. There are many methods of Hydroponics gardening, most of which work better than regular soil gardening because it is easier to give the plant exactly what it needs when it needs it. Plants will only receive what you give them; therefore you will be able to regulate the pH, nutrients, nutrient strength, water amount, and light amount. This makes it imperative that you research the kind of plants you will be growing so you know what they need to survive.
Hydroponics gardening is really easy as well. All you need is a growing tray, light (artificial is fine), a water pump, a reservoir, and some type of air pump to give oxygen. That is it. Now you can make it more complicated if you decide to build a system with computer sensors that control the water flow and the amount of light each plant gets. But this is certainly something you do not NEED to do.
You can choose from different types of growing mediums like perlite, vermiculite, rockwool, or just air. You can get instructions for building a Hydroponic garden over the Internet. You can buy pre-built Hydroponic systems from a gardening store or online but these can get very expensive.
You need to buy quality Hydroponics fertilizer which contains the proper balance of micro-nutrients. The micro-nutrients include: sulfur, boron, magnesium, iron, calcium, cobalt, copper, zinc, and manganese. If your plants do not get the proper amounts of these micro-nutrients, it can result in unhealthy plants and even be unhealthy to eat your vegetables or fruits grown with these missing micro-nutrients.
The biggest advantage that Hydroponics systems have over the traditional soil grown method is the ability to regulate pH balance. The pH balance is what helps your plants absorb the nutrients they need. You can very easily regulate the pH balance in your Hydroponics garden.
Even though there are hundreds of different variations, Wick, Water Culture, Ebb and Flow, Drip, N.F.T., and Aeroponic are the six most basic types of Hydroponics gardening systems. Hydroponics gardening is easy, affordable, and you can have fresh produce, flowers, herbs and spices all year long!
