Learn How To Make Your Home Better

Published by under gardening

With home values plummeting, many homeowners are finding themselves upside down on their mortgages with little or no equity left at all. With this in mind, it’s vital to be able to keep up all repairs and improvements on your home in order to retain as much value as possible. The following are some tips on how to make your home better in tough economic times.

A portable closet is an old time favorite making a recent come back. Sometimes referred to armoires or chiffarobes, these can be found in any style and size and can be custom fit into various nooks and crannies in a bedroom or bath. Many are left with the home when it’s sold, especially if they have been custom fitted.

Another area that usually needs attention is the carpeting. Filthy rugs can turn new buyers away, and can make an otherwise beautiful home look dull and dingy. Take advantage of all the sales going on now at local home improvement stores and replace old worn out carpeting with new Stainmaster carpeting. It repels dirt and moisture, vacuums easily, and lasts for years.

Think about a retro fridge as well. This doesn’t mean go out and find a fridge like Mrs. Cleaver had in the 50s. This refers to the freezer on the bottom style, now called a French door. The top doors can be divided like a side by side, or you can have one solid door. Many people remember these from years ago and would love to have one.

For your kitchen or dining area, add a dining bench. These take up less room, seat more people, and can be used for other things in between. Kids can use them for school projects, and they can be moved from room to room to add seating anywhere quickly.

Many come with chair pads to make them more comfortable. To save money, try building your own! With a few common tools you can have one done by dinner time.

If you love conversation pieces, you have to get a deer antler chandelier. Don’t worry – most of these aren’t made of real antlers. They come in many sizes to fit any room. Don’t worry about your furniture, though. These look great with almost any kind of furniture from traditional to modern to early American. You’ll be able to find them online easier than in local stores.
