Louis Comfort Tiffany was the son of a New York jeweller Charles Tiffany. He participated in vibrant artistic movement called Art Nouveau with full enthusiasm. The lamps designed with these glass sheets gave excellent looks and colour glow in the rooms.

Tiffany’s indigenous technique for producing coloured glasses was magical and quite effective. He designed different colours by using different metal vapours. The copper vapour spray resulted in greenish blue to a rich ruby red and the cobalt vapour produced a spectrum of blue shades and if mixed with manganese it gave the black colour. Glass colour variation was even done by changing the furnace conditions and temperatures.
