The space available to a specialty florist means that containers can be prepped and laid out well beforehand. Then, a couple hours before your party, florists can work quickly and efficiently.

A small shop, by contrast, has limited space. Imagine you have, say, fifty arrangements ordered. In a regular flower shop they will have to start early and work longer to get the job done. Then where will they store the finished arrangements? Will they be stacked and crushed? Or, worse yet, will they get distracted by the retail traffic and be late bringing your flowers? As you can see, something as simple as inadequate space can cause many problems down the line.

Another big plus is refrigerator space. You may have noticed that flowers are almost always in some sort of cooler. Cool air keeps flowers fresh and looking good for longer. What happens behind the scenes is that florists order the flowers from the grower. The grower ships them in large boxes. Once they arrive, how they are handled can determine both how they look and how long they last.

Because specialty florists are accustomed to handling large volumes of flowers, they have adequate cooler space. Your flowers can go into the cooler immediately. A small shop may have to leave the flowers in their boxes in the back room until the event. Maybe even for days!

Delivery can be a difficult task as well. Flowers are fragile and delivering them safely requires specialized knowledge. Instead of cramming your arrangements in a van designed for just a few, an event florist will have the proper space, systems, and equipment to handle the job.

One final advantage you may want to consider is that many event florists rent equipment. They may have a great variety of containers in large quantities. They may also have other decorative items you need like pillars, mirrors, and candle holders. Small shops, on the other hand, will have to order your containers, or will have a really limited selection of rentals.
