Wooden Sheds Categorized A Different Way
Usually, wooden sheds are categorized by the type of roof they are made with. There’s salt box, gambrel, lean-to, etc. But you can also categorized them a different way – by how they are used. Each one of these uses can have any of the types of roofs mentioned as the style doesn’t really matter. Here are the five most common uses for wooden sheds:
1. Storage Sheds
By far, the most basic shed is the storage shed. They consist of four walls, a roof, door, a floor and that’s about it. This is to keep out potential thieves. The floor can be made either out of wood on a frame or on a slab of poured concrete. Since space is usually at a premium in small storage sheds, its important to keep them well organized.
2. Garden Shed
Garden sheds are one of the most convenient items you could have for your garden – especially if your garden is a healthy distance from your main house. It becomes crucial to have a place to store your gardening tools so you can easily find them when you need them most. Garden sheds are also a great place to keep a potting bench and all your extra gardening supplies.
3. Tool Sheds
Are all your tools piling up in the corner of your garage – and your wife is tired of looking at it? Tool sheds are a place where you can keep all your tools in one spot. And, just like a storage shed, they should be as secure as possible. All you have to do is add some pegboards, shelving, some cabinets and a workbench and you’ll be all set. So now the only complaining you will hear is maybe, “are you out there in the tool shed again?”
4. Sheds That Are Converted
A personal favorite of mine, the converted shed is easy to have just by converting it from one purpose (or use) to another. You can also easily change it into an artist studio, pool cabana, and so on. If you want to make a mini retreat, simply add some paint, cozy furniture, a nice rug and your all set.
5. Playhouse
As described in the paragraph above, you can convert an existing shed into a playhouse for the kids or you can build one from a kit (or scratch) for this specific purpose. When your kids are too big for the playhouse, simply convert it back.
There are several other types of sheds you can categorize by their use but this is a basic overview of the five most common. Hopefully you will see the need to build one of your own. You won’t be disappointed.
